Qualifications and Priorities
- Lee is the only candidate who served as a police officer and Chief, he knows the city inside and out
- Lee is the only candidate who has experience running a large city dept. - the Police Dept., which had 87 sworn officers, 50 non-sworn personnel, over 100 volunteers, and a budget of more than 15 million dollars. He knows how to run an effective department and conserve taxpayer dollars.
- Lee has the expertise to enact programs and policies to move Palm Springs forward, and to keep the community safe
- Lee will be a bridge between the police dept. and the city council.
Lee wants to work with the council and community to develop a long-term vision and strategic business plan, including a long-term financial plan.
Lee wants to listen to the community's wishes, priorities and evaluate resources to create a current and a future plan to set priorities and take action, in order to:
- promote greater public safety, reduce property crime and gang incidents
- improve traffic flow, fix the streets
- maintain buildings and keep the city clean
- plan for growth and the right kind of development
- revitalize downtown and attract businesses that will better serve residents
- help promote Palm Springs' image as a world-class destination resort
- seek development that pays for itself and increases city revenues
- ensure the quality of medical facilities and community amenities
- promote more affordable housing, and keep taxes low
